Keeping in step with the Spirit

Hi GracePoint Family,

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

This verse is the verse of the day in the YouVersion Bible App and it struck a chord in me and what is on my mind. Each day we are confronted with choices to make. Some are simple choices like getting out of bed – well okay, maybe that one is not so simple – or what you will have for lunch. Some are difficult choices such as a work decision, a health care issue, or even removing a loved one from life support. Often times, we are willing to turn to God for His wisdom and understanding in what we see as difficult circumstances. However, when it appears to be a routine and mundane choice, we think about it for a half a second or react and make a decision.

Usually the problems that arise do so from a small decision that is made that sets forth a domino effect. We underestimate the power of the small decisions in our life. We must be diligent about embracing these words of wisdom from Proverbs and seek God’s direction for everything – even things we think are insignificant.

Are there things in your life that you are quick to make decisions about that are coming from a reliance on your own understanding, intellect, and experience? Are there decisions in your future that you need to be more diligent about seeking God’s direction?  Perhaps you have already been seeking God’s leading but you do not like what He is saying and you need to submit to His will.

My prayer for you and for me today is that we will be people who trust God enough to come before Him with even the smallest of things and allow Him to guide and direct us. As He speaks then, may we will be willing to submit to His will and step out in faith as the Spirit leads.

Looking forward to worshiping together!  See you Sunday.
